Conway Chicago Drops Electrifying 'Still Dreaming' Music Video, Announces Deeply Charged EP ‘Maybe In The Next Life’
Conway Chicago drops “Still Dreaming” video & announces debut EP Maybe In The Next Life, out June 6. Cinematic, raw, and ready to leave a mark.
CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, May 12, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Chicago-based band Conway Chicago is about to enter a new era with the release of their debut EP, Maybe In The Next Life, arriving June 6. This comes on the heels of their debut single, Still Dreaming, which has already made waves with its emotional depth and genre-defying sound. Today, the band also dropped the highly anticipated music video for Still Dreaming on YouTube.
The track Still Dreaming is a glimpse into the heart of Conway Chicago’s new direction. Written by frontman Aidan, the song reflects a tumultuous relationship experienced during the isolating COVID years. Aidan explains, “We weren’t able to see each other consistently, and I ended up stuck in this perpetual state of falling for them.” The song captures that feeling of love paired with uncertainty, portraying both longing and hope. For the band, it’s also a defining moment musically marking their growth and a shift into a more refined sound.
“We’re fully realizing ourselves as artists now,” Aidan says. “It’s very different from anything we’ve done before.”
With influences spanning punk, pop-punk, dream pop, Britpop, and even metalcore, Conway Chicago’s sound is undeniably eclectic. When asked about the genre-blending nature of their music, Aidan admits, “It’s like putting together a puzzle. Sometimes you don’t see all the pieces, but you go with the feel and let the song take shape. Whether it’s the atmosphere of dream pop or the bite of metalcore, it all comes together naturally.”
While the band’s early days were rooted in Chicago’s DIY punk scene, their sound has evolved far beyond their origins. In their early years, Conway was just Aidan writing songs in a bedroom, but as the band grew and their music progressed, they started to explore more dynamic arrangements and collaborations. “As time went on, I became less focused on trying to be something specific and more open to the sounds and influences around me,” Aidan explains. “That freedom is what has shaped Maybe In The Next Life.”
The upcoming EP showcases this newfound creative freedom. While Still Dreaming provides a taste of what’s to come, fans can expect even more experimental sounds across the five tracks. Bassist Jake, known for his thunderous tone and precision, offers his unique style to each song. “I don’t need to be known as the most skilled bass player,” Jake explains. “It’s about knowing what’s needed for the song. Overplaying can kill a track, so I focus on what fits best.”
The band’s lineup is now more cohesive than ever, and this collaborative energy is what makes Maybe In The Next Life stand out. “This EP is the most collaborative we’ve been,” Jake adds. “Each of us brought our A-game. We’ve found a formula that works for us, and we’re only going to keep refining it.”
Drummer Austin, whose background in jazz brings a unique technicality to Conway’s high-energy sound, continues to push the envelope with his performance. “I’ve learned so much about refining my skills, and I’m using that to bring more expression to the kit,” he shares. “This is the most I’ve ever felt like I’ve written something that’s entirely my own but also an expression of my influences.”
The band’s live performances are equally as high-energy, and they credit their intense preparation for each show as a key to keeping the crowd engaged. Aidan shared, “Playing live is like jumping onto a moving train. You can’t just show up and rock out you’ve got to be prepared physically and mentally.” Whether it’s a show for five people or five hundred, they bring the same level of intensity every time.
Conway Chicago has already begun planning their live shows for the summer, with a few exciting surprises up their sleeves. While a full tour isn’t in the cards just yet, the band is gearing up for a release show to celebrate Maybe In The Next Life. Details will be announced on their Instagram soon, so fans should keep an eye on their socials for updates.
Critics have been quick to recognize the band’s evolving sound and the energy they bring to each track. Alternative Music Review praises the band’s bold approach, stating, “Conway Chicago isn’t just pushing boundaries—they’re erasing them entirely. With Still Dreaming and their upcoming EP, they’ve crafted something that feels both fresh and familiar in all the right ways.”
Looking forward, Aidan says the band is focused on continuing to be true to themselves creatively. “It’s not about fitting into a genre or a specific label. We’re creating music that reflects who we are, and we want our fans to feel that authenticity.” The future for Conway Chicago looks bright, and with a fresh sound and a growing fanbase, this is only the beginning.
Fans can catch the band around Chicago this summer and should stay tuned for more announcements as they continue to build on their success.
