Turkish forces shell 2 villages in Syria’s Manbij

MANIJ, Syria  (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Saturday two villages in the northern countryside of the city of Manbij in northern Syria.

Manbij Military Council, a military formation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced that the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), heavily shelled villages in the northern countryside of Manbij.

The Council added that the shelling targeted the villages of Arab Hassan Kabir and al-Muhsenli, north of Manbij, with mortar and artillery shells.

It indicated that the targeted villages are populated, while the extent of the losses has not been assessed so far.

Turkey repeatedly targets cities and towns in north and northeast Syria with drones, artillery shells and heavy weapons, causing casualties and material damage, especially in population areas.

On May 2, the Turkish forces shelled the village of Sayada in the western countryside of Manbij, injuring a civilian and causing material damage to the civilians’ property.
